After mounting tension over the last two weeks between the two countries, fighting finally broke out along the border, and a declaration made at 3pm this afternoon, was that This Country is at war with That One.
Hostilities then commenced in earnest.
The disputed territory between the two states has been a source of unrest for centuries, and periodical outbursts of civilian violence have left thousands dead. Recently, however, there has been a major escalation of the troubles, and today, This Country finally took the decisive, some would say, inevitable, step against That One, and began mobilizing its military might.
There were skirmishes all along the border, and explosions could be heard on both sides. Tens of thousands of people are expected to die, and there will be destruction on a vast scale.
Matters are certain to be resolved eventually, but probably not until an enormous profit has been made by the weapons suppliers.
