Many Irish TV viewers tune in to yet another ITV or RTE-grown broadcast of boring crassness, try to switch over or indeed, if they are very bored, try to access the RTE Programme, only to find that RTE Player freezes everything, including the possibility of switching over to something more intelligent/entertaining.
Is this a cunning plan or, more probably just incompetence, both adding up to the delay to licence-paying viewers' access to something less tedious?
RTE consistently selects guffawing non-entities to people its studio couches, shamelessly promoting 6th-rate shows, with the occasional appearance of a 'human interest' guest, to give their egregious chat shows some semblance of Gravitas.
But ultimately, the studio audience is only there on the offer of a year's supply of free sausages/energy bills.
But does all this point to a more insidious Orwellian control of the undiscerning masses?
