Spanish boats were shown the door once again in Gibraltar waters as two lost Guardia boats collided with each other and dangerously cut in front of a U.S. cruiser in U.K. waters.
The bedraggled and profusely apologetic amateur Spanish "crew" members were pulled from the water and rescusitated before being escorted back to the safety of Internationnal waters. The almost daily scuttling of Spanish boats in Gibraltar waters is thought to be a manifestation of "Armada Syndrome" referring to the inept seamanship of the Spaniards in the comedy attack on Britain in the 17th century.
During the ridiculous attack on Britain the entire Spanish fleet was sunk on the rocks off North Western Ireland. Then, as now the Spaniards were told to keep away from the rock. Spanish boats, none of them seaworthy are manned by waiters in a Government job experience scheme designed to re-employ recession hit Spanish bar staff and redundant grape picker's after the disintegration of the fragile Spanish economy. The loss of income for Spain after failing to sell any Sherry last year is said to have had a devastating effect on the right wing government's electability.
