Boston Even though the convention is a year away, with the campaign not even really started, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney feels so confident in the outcome that he's announcing his running mates already: Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin.
The announcement came at a press conference one day after Bachmann won the Iowa straw pole. Romney forgot to participate in the Iowa contest. He was asked at the press conference about Bachmann's win.
"Look-the only pole that I am concerned about is my own," said Romney. "Her numbers are fantastic. And by the way, that comment I made last week 'corporations are people, too' was totally taken out of context. I mean yes: corporations get up in the morning, and put their pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us; but the similarity obviously ends there."
Asked about Palin, Romney replied: "Sarah Palin is a great little asset and will bring some 'Annie Oakley' style vim and vigor to the campaign of this dyed-in-the-wool yankee. I can't wait to see her over in Blair house, decorating the walls with little pistols and whatnot. And Michele will be there too-all 'earth-mother' like-right in the room next door. I'm telling you this country is going somewhere!"
Neither Bachmann nor Palin could be reached for comment.
