Chat show host Oprah Winfrey is set to launch a new career in the diplomatic service as the first ever World Ambassador of Hugs.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon made the announcement to the world's press ;
"The executive board of the United Nations are all keen to spread peace and love throughout the world and we can think of no one better suited to carrying out that mission than Miss Winfrey.
Oprah has built an extremely successful career on "getting people to hug each other, open up to each other and recognise their own and each other's worth".
The specially created post of World Ambassador of Hugs will see Oprah travel through every country in the world, meeting leaders as well as common people, and trying to get everyone to get on a bit better that they do at present.
The trademark of Oprah's mission will be the Introductory Hug that will be designed to immediately break down any barriers or preconceived mutual suspicion.
The Secretary General continued ; "The intention is for the Ambassador to get rid of all war and strife within the next 5 years.
Miss Winfrey's first task will be to visit Iran and persuade President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to give up his nuclear programme and then broker a peace deal between Israel and Palestine".
