"Popular young Progressive understands real Americans," says Brown
Stressing his credentials as a "true progressive," Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. held a news conference Monday under the Capitol Rotunda to announce the appointment of his "progressive new chief of staff" actress Stephanie Courtney, who plays "Flo" in the Progressive Auto Insurance television ads.
"If you have watched any of the numerous television interviews Flo has conducted, you'd realize she has her finger on the pulse of the public. It doesn't matter whether she is discussing matters with a biker, a retired white couple, gay people or a group of housewives, in the end everyone agrees that Progressivism is the way to go," said Brown.
The Governor appeared oblivious the "interviews" were actually advertisements, or that Courtney's first name is Stephanie, rather than "Flo."
Courtney is the main company member of the famed Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, regularly performing in their sketch and improv shows. She hails from Stony Point, New York.
The comedic performer, who has no experience in government, stated she "looks forward to the challenge of managing the day to day operations of the Executive Office while continuing to appear 10 PM Thursday through Sunday, at the West Hollywood Improv."
