Camden, New Jersey has had to lay off about half of it's police force due to budget cuts while citizens fear to go out.
Also, a good part of the fire fighters were also laid off.
"After that vote yesterday where the judge said that he would not force Camden to bring back the laid-off policemen and firemen, we have to look after ourselves", stated a member of the town's Chamber of Commerce who asked not to be identified.
Indeed it was hard for us to find anyone that would give their names to us as they are afraid of any gang bosses moving in and using them for an example of WHO was now in charge of the city.
Meanwhile gun sales are going through the roof, according to several gun shops there.
"If we're selling this many guns and ammo, this will soon turn into the old west", stated manager Howard Delinton.
Many of the store owners say that they expect to have "protection" offers from local gang members.
"I guess that if the city cannot pay the police, we will have to pay the outlaws", stated Delinton.
"Maybe we'll have enough colorful crime bosses to make our own hit gangster movies."
