Washington DC: The World Linguists Organization (WLO) convention was overshadowed by the climate change convention held in Copenhagen DK and the Senate debate on health care reform at the US Capitol.
Linguists from around the world met to discus the meaning of the word CRAP. The attendees felt that the word takes on different meanings, dependent on the subject matter, context or involved group.
The WLO membership voted not to accept any old CRAP, but CRAP that has been sanctioned by the organization. A WLO spokesperson said "by not taking CRAP from anyone, the language will not be deteriorated!" Acceptable definitions for CRAP are as follows.
Animal Rights Activists: Carnivorous Repast Antagonistic Pests; Advertising Agents: Cajoling Retail Article Propagandists; Criminals: Crooked Robbing Antisocial Perverts; Environmentalists: Crazy Rabid Authoritarian Protectionists; Elitists: Controlling Radical Autocratic Persons; Politicians: Corrupt Rascals Adoring Power; Vegetarians: Consummate Radish/Alfalfa Purchasers; and Zero Population Growth Advocates: Condoms Required/Abstinence Preferred.
Next year's WLO meeting will be held in San Francisco CA and the word CRUD will be examined.
