(Washington, D.C.) A passenger flight overshot its destination airport by about 150 miles Wednesday.
Federal investigators initially thought that the aircraft, which remained radio silent for 16 minutes, might have been taken over by terrorists.
The pilots are claiming they were distracted, but there is concern that they may have fallen asleep, since their initial response after the communication gap was "vague" and "distracted."
The airline released a statement addressing the concern.
"We want to categorically state that our pilots do not sleep while flying planes. But if you happen to see an airport going by, feel free to tell a flight attendant you'd like them to ask the pilots to reduce altitude so you can get a better look."
