Republican leadership in the House and Senate announced today that they would start the proceedings to water board Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine to determine if she is a real Republican. This will be done in the Senate chambers. They will also introduce a bill to burn House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the stake in the Capitol rotunda.

The NOW organization was one of the first to reply to this stunning announcement. A spokesman said, "It is not the poitics that we take exception to....there seems to be a little gender bias here. If they would have announced they were going to draw and quarter...say...John Kerry or Harry Reid or stone to death..Dennis Kucinich..that would be another matter. But no....this is still a male country club.

Minority Senate leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority leader John Boehner countered with a joint statement which read in part...."We could have, in fact, made a much harsher decision and taken them to a T-Bagger rally and let the crowd do to them what they chose to do. We are not that kind of people"

President Obama immediately issued a statement through press secretary Gibbs which said in part....."Well............I think that it is a bit harsh....in some ways though...it WAS bi-partisan. We will take a wait and see attitude"

News channels have been quick to follow the story. Fox News in reporting from several cities across the country found that the general reaction is.....Is it going to be on TV? A Fox spokesman stated that they would cover the events in their entirety..Glenn Beck will anchor the coverage and Bill O'Reilly has requested to be the facilitator for both punishments.

Fox News has disclosed that the ad times have been totally sold out for the air times of both events.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
