In a move that has shaken the US political system, President Barack Obama has announced this morning that he has become a Republican.
In a press conference this morning, the President described the reasoning for his shock decision. "I always promised that I would have a bi-partisan approach to my Presidency. I have spent the first 100 days as a Democrat and felt that I should spend the next 100 as a Republican".
The Democratic has spent much of the last week celebrating the switch of Senator Arlen Specter from the Republican party which had given them a significant grip on the Senate. However clearly no-one had expected to lose control of the White House in the same week.
In questioning the Vice President Joe Biden, about whether he had also switched parties as well, Biden responded by singing "God Bless America", again leading to journalists to questions his legal state of mind.
It is believed the President will spend the weekend with Rush Limbaugh.
