In an effort to boost the local economy, and in moves to rival the "Giant Baboon of Memphis", Tallahassee in Florida is to get it's own 300-foot-long aardvark. The aardvark was native to that part of North America before being wiped out by early settlers (or crocodile - can you check this,ed?).
The County Hospital is being demoliahed to provide a site for the metal mammal.
The huge statue, already being called "The Liberty of the East", is being made by local artists, and it is hoped it will become the focus of the annual "Talahassee Beaver Day Festival" next February, and a major tourist attraction.
The giant quadruped (genus; Aardvarkus Aardurus) statue will have a viewing platform atop it's 130-foot head, from which visitors will be able to see the Florida Keys on a clear day.
