Representatives of Felipe Calderon's government have filed suit in US federal court today, naming the United States' Labor Unions as defendants. According to papers filed, the Mexican government is charging the Labor Unions conspired to create the current recession, as a means of driving unsanctioned immigrants back to Mexico.
Mexico's suit seeks damages to cover the cost of increased claims against their government's assistance programs and the possible expansion of the prison systems.
The amount, $980 trillion, has been requested in US currency. Officials hinted the total might grow larger. "Because we don't know the full impact of the returnees as of yet we expect it will be necessary to adjust for inflation, by the time the suit is won", an unnamed source was quoted.
Labor Union officials were unavailable for comment.
