NAIROBI, Kenya - The African country of Kenya has announced that the Kenyan National Assembly has voted and approved by a vote of 223 to 1 to change the country's name from Kenya to Obamaland.
The people of Kenya are proud that the son of one of their citizens has become the president of the United States of America.
Kenyan President Boombaca Vaca Fyrell Kinchopi, Jr. said that the Kenyan National Assembly has also voted to make Obama's birthday, August 4, a national Kenyan holiday.
Kinchopi said that before Barack Obama one of the two most famous persons of Kenyan descent was Tom Morello, guitarist with Rage Against The Machine and later Audioslave.
The other well known Kenyan, Baboocoo Goomoo is a cross-country runner who in 2001, ran from the base of Mr. Kilamanjaro in Kenya to the top of Mt. Everest in Tibet, a distance of almost 4,000 miles. And Goomoo did it non-stop and barefooted.
Kenya's leading newspaper, The Nairobi Telegram News has recently reported that of the last 400 babies that have been born in the largest hospital in Kenya, St. Zebra Hospital, that every boy (203) has been named Barack.
And of the 197 girls, 132 have been named Michelle, 44 have been named Oprah, 27 have been named Jemima, 3 have been named Florida, and one has been named Okra(?).
Kenyan President Kinchopi, which in Kenyan means tall African warrior who can play the hell out of the African jungle drums with one hand tied behind his back and with a baby lion sitting on his head stated that he has mandated that Kenya's most famous attraction Mr. Kilamanjaro be immediately renamed Mt. Obamamanjaro.
The Telegram News has also reported that Sansanica Bazoongas, the anchorwoman for Nairobi's most popular television station TJMS ("The Jungle Mama Station") channel 707, has started a petition drive to change the name of the city of Nairobi to Barackarobi.
Bazoongas, who is 27, and a divorcee was named The 2007 Queen of The African Jungle Mating Festival, says that so far they have collected a total of 924,979 signatures and that they only need 21 more to make it official.
Miss Bazoongas was asked about the one lone dissenting vote in the Kenyan National Assemblies 223 to 1 vote to change the country's name.
She grinned and said that the one dissenting vote was cast by Senator Tumba Tofu, who is considered an extreme right wing radical.
She added that Tofu was last seen in the National Assembly parking lot being forced into a purple 2003 Toyota Tundra.
The pickup then quickly drove off at a high rate of speed heading towards the Indian Ocean coast.
In related news. President Kinchopi has said that President Obama has been extended an invitation to attend the upcoming 2009 African Jungle Mating Festival in April.
An aide to President Obama has said that the president has graciously accepted the invitation and he will be attending along with First Mama Michelle, the two First Kiddoes, Malia and Sasha, and Secretary of the Treasury Oprah Winfrey and her main man Stedman Graham.
