New York - (Ponzi Ponce Mess): "At first we thought it was giant inflatable dreidel," neighbors of Ponzi-scam trickster Bernard Madhoff said today following reports of an ominous Hannukah UFO seen hovering over the disgraced trader's Lipstick Building orifices.
"Sure looked like it was spinning out of control - a bit like Madoff's hedge fund PR spiel!"
The New York's Police Department later reported it had been inundated with calls from worried Third Avenue residents insisting the Hannukah UFO was a stark omen of an alien lynch mob 'out to get Madoff'.
"Calm down everybody," NYPD commisioner Raymond W Kelly commented, "there's no alien posse.
"And as everyone knows a dreidel is a toy used in a Jewish gambling game, its Hebrew letters making up the acronym for 'a great miracle happened here'.
"So, absolutely nothing to worry about!"
But superstitious residents are pointing out that this year's Hannukah holiday occurs on the day of the Winter Solstice at an astrologically apocalyptic time of a Sun/Pluto conjunction.
Bernard Madoff is under house arrest.
