DALLAS, Texas (Rooters) -- A smell of human gas at a facility that researches farts is making people drop like flies near downtown Dallas. At least two thousand people were injured, hospital officials said.
Authorities evacuated a half-mile area surrounding the Southwest Fart Gases Inc. facility and shut down parts of two of the area's busiest highways.
"I thought it was thunder. Then I smelled the stink," said witness Loony Tove, a former Army soldier.
"We don't really know what's going on, but we feel pretty secure here in the jail, but the smell is really getting to us," said a prisoner in the Dallas County Jail.
The Environmental Stink Protection Agency's emergency responders were on the way to the scene, said Bave Dary, a spokesman for the agency's regional office. He said they will assist in monitoring the air, but had no information yet, only that it really stinks.
Funland Hospital spokesman Bob Threnody said two thousand people injured by the stink had been brought to his hospital in serious condition.
