After losing the fight against illegal immigration once again, it seems like President George W. Bush is trying a completely new attitude towards the matter. In a speech he has given yesterday, he has told of a new idea he had.
"In the last few years we had much troubles with illegal immigrants sneaking to our country mostly from the South, ummm, may I say, Mexicanian immigrants. I must admit, We had quite a harsh attitude towards those poor people, simply looking for a better chance in life. Now I have realized, that the violent attitude taken against those friends of ours, is against the values of freedom and liberty America is supposed to represent. So now we have decided to propose our friends from the North... What? the North is Canada? I mean, South, a generous offer: we want you to join us as the 52nd... Wait, does Iraq count? Oh. 51st state of America."
When asked why he had decided to take such an unexpected decision, given the current climate towards illegal immigration, Bush revealed: "You know, I never understood them on that matter. I always loved Mexicanians. I loved their food, their culture, and most of all, their funny hats."
If Mexico accepts the US's offer of becoming a new state, Bush has announced his intentions to move to Mexico. "I'll change my name to Georgio Bushe, and spend the rest of my days eating tacos for breakfast and tortillas for dinner."
The impact on the US is expected to be quite significant. "Oh. We'd probably have to change our national language to Spanish and include a piniata on our flag. But that's no problem, compared to the advantages we'd gain."
After this, Mr. Bush has disappeared and I we failed to address him any more questions on the subject. I guess we'd just have to wait for Mexico's response to Bush's original offer.
