Actress and model, Nicole Richie, was languishing in a police cell last night after being convicted of DUI.
Miss Richie had been stopped by the Highway Patrol, driving at speeds of 169 mph, on the wrong side of the road and swigging from a bottle of Tequila.
Her defense lawyer had claimed that the Simple Life star had become 'woozy' after consuming a cough drop and that the stress of fame had caused her to have a breakdown.
After watching video evidence provided by arresting officers however, in which Miss Richie called the police 'Bashdardshhs' and attemped to urinate into her own handbag, Judge Tony Knobalot told the defence lawyer he was 'talking shite'.
There were fears over Miss Richie's plummeting weight and some believed this may have been behind the incident. Police however believe that the actress behaved erratically because of the huge amount of alcohol and cocaine she had consumed over a 12 hour period.
