LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – Up until a few days ago, lifelong Louisiana resident, Jean Boniface Baptiste, was an unemployed shrimp salesman.
But today, he is literally making a killing working as a sky writer.
Baptiste says that he borrowed his ex-wife’s Cessna Two-Seater, and took to the sky with 10 gallons of white skywriting powder.
The former shrimp salesman was awarded a lucrative contract by the city of Lafayette to work eight hours a day up in the sky, skywriting the phrase “Stay Inside – Don’t Risk Getting Shot!”
The Lafayette City Council has voted into law one of the strongest shelter-in-place policies of any state in the nation.
Meanwhile, the Lafayette Police Department wants to get the word out that anyone violating the shelter-in-place proclamation could end up getting shot.
Jean Boniface says that he estimates he writes the skywriting phrase at least 400 times a day.
He revealed tongue-in-cheek that towards the end of his shift, the gets kind of bored, and will slip in a few “Stay Inside – Don’t Risk Getting Your Cajun Ass Shot!” messages.
Baptiste stated that he plans to donate 15% of his earnings to The Louisiana Bayou Home For Retired Shrimp Giggers.
