Washington - President Donald Trump, whose companies were estimated last year to owe almost $2billion to banks, has demanded that the Federal Reserve Board drop interest rates to zero, and even called for negative interest rates.
"I'm insisting they drop rates to zero, even negative, for the good of the economy and workers, not for myself," said Trump, who once called himself the 'King of Debt'.
When asked by reporters on the White House lawn about the billions his companies owed banks, and the millions he would likely save in interest charges, the President responded: "That's why they call you the fake news! Just like the Tax Reform Bill, and the thousands of government employees and foreign visitors to whom I give free rooms and food at my resorts, I will lose big time on this, probably anywhere from 3-5 billion."
Trump then boarded Air Force One with a large entourage headed to Mar-A-Lago for a weekend of taxpayer-paid golf, fundraising events and dinners.
