The Raleigh News & Observer is reporting today that the biggest attraction on the Food Court on opening day of the fair was: Deep fried dog turds dipped in chocolate and wrapped in bacon! The line stretched around the block as attendees waited to try the newest "deep fried" food at this years event.
"It sure do beat them deep fried pickles and ice cream from last year," said one elderly attended.
"Tasted kinda familiar, but sho was delicious," said another.
"Nothin like southern cookin. These folks are gonna make a mint," said a young man grinning and wiping his mouth with his sleeve.
The owners of the concession were asked if they would return with the same item next year. "Well, said T. J. McCorkle of Louisburg, "being as our state has more puppy mills and huntin dogs than any other state we sure aint gonna run out of supplies! Next year tho," he paused and grinned, "we gonna deep freeze em and call em---Poopcicles!"
