BALTIMORE, MD - Baltimore Mayor, Democrat Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, will not seek re-election in 2016, but she announced that she will be seeking the office of President of the United States.
Rawlings-Blake (D) "led" the city during unrest following the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died from injuries sustained while in police custody in April. Her most noted action was to order the police to
stand-down during riots that left Baltimore in shambles.
In her press release issued today, Ms. Rawlings-Blake promised to bring the same leadership that she has demonstrated in Baltimore to Washington, DC.
Rawlings-Blake has served as Baltimore mayor since 2010 and her term will expire in 2016.
