Braxton, Mississippi - Blues singer and guitarist Henry Johnson Jr. had more bad luck this week when his dog ran away. Johnson was recently fired by his own wife, who then dumped him and began a relationship with the man she hired to replace him. Johnson tried drinking off his sorrow but failed to feed his dog during the binge, so his dog ran away.
"I told him to feed his damn dog," neighbor Sheila Jackson said. "But he was too asleep to listen."
Jackson said the dog tried nudging Johnson's arm to wake him as he slept on an old sofa in front of his trailer but Johnson hardly budged.
The dog is thought to have run off to a white lady's house one county over.
"A lot of black folks dogs run off and live with that white lady," said Ms. Jackson. "She feeds them Mighty Dog And Gainesburger and scraps of rich lady food right off the table."
Johnson finally woke up yesterday and was seen walking around in circles in his backyard yelling "where's my damn dog?"
Johnson's guitar was also stolen from his trailer.
