BILLINGSGATE POST: Martha's Vineyard - White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest today responded to critics who suggested that President Obama should not have played golf immediately after giving an emotional speech condemning the ISIS beheading of Jim Foley. According to a White House pool report, Obama joined former Miami heat player, Alonzo Mourning, at the Farm Neck Golf Club within minutes after voicing his horror and anger over the vicious murder of the journalist.
"Let me say first that the President can walk and chew gum at the same time. I also would like to remind you that George W. Bush could not. And that is why he decided not to play golf during the final years of his presidency."
"There are mitigating circumstances. The President chose to play golf that day with Alonzo Mourning. This was not by accident. It allowed the President to concentrate on his own game while Alonzo did the mourning."
"Finally, in respect for the Foley family, the President refrained from lighting-up his favorite Havana until the second hole."
