WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Troops to Teachers (TTT) Program, established in 1994 by the Department of Defense, has successfully placed 20,000 participants in the nation's schools. The purpose of TTT is to help honorably discharged military personnel as they transition to a new career as teachers in "high-need" schools.
Since 1994, spin-offs of the Department of Defense's TTT style education program have been initiated, with over 50,000 participants. Unfortunately, programs such as "Pimps to Pawn Brokers", "Hookers to Housewives", and "Gamblers to Gardeners" have not met with much success.
A brand new spin-off, "Identify Thefts to Pastry Chefs", is expected to be somewhat more manageable for participants, as the sugar high they will experience making sweet concoctions should exceed the high they experienced from stealing folks' identities.
