Mitt Romney released a statement this morning that had politicians, the media, and the general public perplexed. The Associated Press is reporting that the comment came without provocation and the accompanying remarks appeared to be a new low in the desperate Romney campaign.
The printed statement which supposedly came from Romney continued: "Criminals, rapists, child molesters, and perverts are also people my friends. Cross dressers, homosexuals, liberals, Jews, three card Monte dealers and Catholic cultists are also persons. I am not insinuating that Rick Santorum is any of these, except maybe the Catholic thingy.
"On the other hand, I do think that Rick has the obligation to address these issues and address them honestly and in a forthright manner.
"This country cannot afford to consider a person that will not come clean about their past. If these rumors are not true, and I am not saying that they are, he is the one to address them in a timely manner.
"I, for one, am rooting for him. After all, Charles Manson was a person too!"
