CHARLESTOWN, Sc. - Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich pulled out a successful showing in South Carolina's primary, beating out Mitt Romney and leaving Rick Santorum in the dust.
Insiders feel that the time is ripe for the 68-year-old to repeat history by taking a fancy to yet another young aide.
Said one young male aide who asked to remain nameless, "I'm just glad Newt doesn't like guys because there's no doubt he's on the prowl again."
Ex-wife Marianne Gingrich told ABC this week that Mr. Gingrich had sought an open marriage with her because he was carrying on with present wife, Callista, an aide 23 years his junior.
Marianne, however, felt particularly stung as she had played the role of home wrecker 18 years earlier when Gingrich split from his first wife, Jackie Battley.
Time, however, does not appear to be on Mr. Gingrich's side as one young female staffer intimated. "Newt may have had it going on when he was 40, and maybe when he was 56, but at 68 I can tell you that it's not happening with this girl."
