A Selby man was subject to a happy slap attack by his wife and sister-in-law today while watching the John Wayne western Rio Bravo.
The incident appears to have been a copy cat version of a similar attack last month.
Barry Glimpse, 47, of Ikea Close, was watching the film on the TCM channel and enjoying a cup of tea with a piece of Battenburg cake when the incident happened.
"It's a brilliant film - one of the Duke's best," said Mr Glimpse. "It's also got Dean Martin in it - but he doesn't sing Little Ole Wine Drinker Me or Volare or anything.
"Anyway, they just got to the bit when Burdett tells the mariachi band to start playing and in runs Pauline, the missus, and she gives me a happy slapping, while her sister, our Sylvia, records it on her mobile phone."
Mr Glimpse reckons he shouldn't have been surprised by the attack as Pauline had been intrigued by reports of a similar incident last month.
As we reported on July 16, Royce Bandersnatch, also of Selby, was happy slapped by his wife while he was watching El Dorado - the 1967 remake of 1959's Rio Bravo, again starring John Wayne but featuring Robert Mitchum in Dean Martin's drunk role and James Caan standing in for Ricky Martin. Both films were directed by Howard Hawks.
"I read her the report in The Spoof at the time," Mr Glimpse continued. "She laughed and said it sounded like great fun.
"I should have guessed something was up this morning when she went upstairs to ring her sister after I told her I fancied watching the movie this afternoon."
