Following three nights of rioting in London, residents of the southern suburb of Clapham were shocked to see a gang rampaging through the streets in broad daylight.
They carried brooms and dustpans and frightened locals by clearing the streets of debris in a matter of minutes. It is thought that the group met through Basefook, Titter and other "social media".
One local, Percy Trotter, said, "I couldn't believe it. It was shocking! To think that Londoners would do something like that and clean their own streets. I never thought I'd see the day."
Council street cleaners are worried that these "have a go" mobs could put them out of work. Similar gangs have been reported in other areas, and officials have warned that anyone caught cleaning the street without appropriate yellow safety vests could be endangering themselves and others.
