This year's London Gay Pride Parade has been cancelled. Organisers say that they feel that homosexuality is almost universally accepted, and there is no need to ram their sexuality down anyone's throats any more.
It was first considered to rename the parade from Gay Pride to something else. The reasoning behind this was that pride in one's sexuality makes about as much sense as being proud of anything else that one has no control over.
"Gay comfort" was suggested as a new name for the parade, to show that gays are comfortable with their sexuality, but not boastful. In the end though, the parade was cancelled altogether.
Parade spokesman Gay Pride said, "Being attracted to people with whom it is impossible to breed, and a lifetime of uncomfortable sexual acts is nothing to march about."
