Following a decision by the European Commission milk and meat from the offspring of cloned animals will be allowed to enter the food chain and is expected to be on the shelves of supermarkets by the end of summer.
A major concern, that the general public would not be convinced by the commission's assurance that cloned offspring milk and meat is no different to conventionally produced milk and meat is believed to have been the reason for deciding that cloned offspring milk and meat will not have to carry any special labeling to inform customers of it's origin.
Peter Cabbage, president of the British Vegetarians Society applauded the decision saying, "This is fantastic news. The decision not to force the Frankenstein meats to be labeled as coming from cloned offspring will lead to lots of people deciding not to eat any meat at all."
