Brodford man Kevin Smally was horrified to discover a loaf of bread inside a mouse on Sunday.
"I had bought the mouse from Discount Butchers on the High Street, and the wife had cooked it up for Sunday lunch" said Mr Smally. "Imagine our surprise when we carved it up and found a loaf of bread inside. You expect it with sausages but not in the Sunday roast."
A team from the Environmental Health Department raided Discount Butchers and following their inspection have closed the premises.
Health officer Kelvin Smally (No relation) said yesterday: "We have found a number of bakery items within the uncooked vermin for sale at the butchers, including wholemeal baps, croissants and Chelsea buns. We are now preparing a dossier prior to instigating court proceedings."
The owners of Discount Butchers were unavailable for comment.
