Police in Coventry say that "thousands of cats" have started to gather outside the home of Mary Bale, the woman who was seen by billions of internet users dumping a cat in a wheelie bin for fun.
The cats have been sidling up to the Bale residence for the last two days, and the scene is now reminiscent of the one near the end of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, although that was birds, not cats.
Cats are in the garden, perched on the roof, and one or two have even been seen attempting to get into the house by dropping down her chimney. It must be terrifying for the occupants, feeling trapped, and unable to escape.
The police say they are powerless to stop the cats, because they are not subject to British law.
They added that they would, however, intervene in the event of a full-scale cat attack on Mrs Bale, who must, by now, be wishing that she'd never bothered to get up for work on Monday.
