The rise of the 'Ladette Culture' is causing problems. The binge drinking and casual unprotected sex indulged in by these young girls is causing problems. By imitating what they think men are like, they consider they are developing women's emancipation. Maybe they overlook Mick Jagger's cry: 'I Can't Get No Satisfaction.'
The ladette life style has resulted in alarming rises in teenage promiscuity, abortions and sexually transmitted diseases.
'What will become of my Little Princess in years to come?' wailed a troubled parent 'have we done something wrong in bringing up our children which has led to this situation?'
There are plenty of people on the lookout for those who are to blame for this situation. Sexual liberation is pretty high on the list. However, are the Ladettes liberated? Often the misconception people put on 'sexual liberation' as something they dislike results in people copying the misconception rather than the real thing.
Our 'materialistic society' is seen as another culprit - particularly from the left of the political spectrum. But what of those societies which have tried not to be materialistic?
The pulpit is of the view that moral failings are the root of the problem. 'This increasingly atheistic society gives young people the idea that they can think for themselves' complained out local vicar 'we must bring ethics into the ladette culture and save these young misguided people.'
So, take your pick or come up with your own solution. That something is wrong seems pretty obvious.
