Diane Abbott is the perfect candidate to champion labour 'core values' - "A future rich for us"
Abbott couldn't of done hypocrisy any better if she tried. Having slammed Tony Blair for sending his children to a selective school, she went one better, sending her son to private school having applied to 3 schools in total. What's good for the gander is not good enough for this goose, clearly.
Perhaps for this reason, the generous pay and perks of public life are nowhere near enough for Abbotts appetite. Whether it's jornalism, TV chat shows or public speaking, Abbott has all the pies within easy reach. The only slip up was failing to declare a piffling £17k from the BBC for talking nonsense on a sofa for a few nights in 2004. Her punishment was hardly scary - "She had to apologise to the house." - like robbers saying 'sorry' for their latest heist before donning balaclavas for the next night's booty.
Since then we've all become weary of the rich 'apologists' - be they MPs or bankers. But then 2 words let's them keep a lot of money. Who wouldn't say sorry for £1,000,000? It's a form of money-laundering by proxy.
