Mel B has signed up to star in a reality TV series about her life in Grassington, for the Wharfedale Network.

The Mel B Project will follow her life with her producer husband Stephen Belafonte and her two daughters. The former Spice Girl and her husband will be executive producers of the show, which is being described as a "docu-comedy". It will be screened on Yorkshire TV in September and is expected to be broadcast in the US at a later date.

'Confident, hilarious and entertaining'

Mel B's profile has grown in Yorkshire since her appearance as a contestant on Singing With The Sheep, the rural version of Strictly Come Singing. And with her unusual voice, she caused some raised eyebrows amidst the Grassington Singers, before she stormed out in a huff. However, afterwards she did very well in a dry-stone wailing competition.

Earlier this week she attended a preview of Grassington's Dickensian Festival with her former partner Eddie Murphy - who kept asking "Who the Dickens is this guy Dickens?" Footage of that appearance is expected to feature in an episode.

Last winter, Mel B astounded onlookers when she tried to drench a giant picture of Victoria Beckham in the raging waters at Linton Falls. She later claimed she was practising for a wet t-shirt wrestling contest.

President of the Wharfedale Network Sam Samson said: "Mel B is confident, hilarious and outrageously entertaining. We love that Mel has evolved her image and sought new challenges throughout her career while also taking on the ups and downs, inns and outs, hiss and hairs, that come with madness and mayhem in village life."

The Parish Councillors commented that "this is good for Grassington. It shows that the village can cope with anybody - even famous odd-bods like Mel B. We remember her when she was just Mel Z. She's come a long way since then, probably thanks to her Grassington connections."

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
