Gordon Brown today entered the row regarding the proposed closure of the Cadbury chocolate factory at Keynsham following the recent takeover by Kraft Foods Company. The Prime Minister expressed his fears for the future of the workforce and declared his special interest in the Fudge Packers
Mr Brown explained "From a young lad I always wanted to be a Fudge Packer. I well remember as a small boy I would hang around factory gates watching the men leaving work and hoping to see one."
Mr Brown continued:
"Fudge packers always seem to like kids especially little boys. You knew which ones they were as they would have packets of sweets to attract the children.... And You could always depend on them to give you one !!
"Since my childhood Fudge Packers have played an increasingly more important role in British society.
"The BBC for example employs many Fudge Packers, indeed many consider it to be an essential requirement in order to progress in the BBC.
"Furthermore, we here in Parliament have, over the past few years, seen increasing numbers of Fudge Packers on the Government benches. I think every man should try Fudge Packing and" he joked " after we win this election we might consider making it compulsory."
Newsflash:
The bit about making it compulsory was NOT a joke !!!
