Danny Windbooth, 36 from Croydon, has been charged by Court Martial for 'recklessly destroying' a dustbin lorry.
The bomb disposal expert, who served six tours of Afghanistan, was found guilty of disposing of his bombs in his council wheelie bin.
"I never thought they'd catch on," said Windbooth from his cell. "I was so careful and all!"
"Windbooth was found to have removed several land mines and other IED's without properly disabling the internal circuitry," said Major Sandy Tom, Windbooth's senior.
The four members of the refuse crew on duty the morning of the explosion, all died in the resultant blast. Three houses, a shed, four lamp posts, two cars and a passing cat were all also destroyed in the carnage.
It is thought that many more unexploded bombs have been brought back to the UK from abroad by the Bomb Disposal units of our nation's army, for disposal in houshold waste, due to spiralling costs in the disposal sector.
"Landmines should be stamped out!!" bellowed PM Gordon Brown. We quite agree Gord, we quite agree....
More as we **BOOM**....
