Not to be outdone by the Dalai Lama, who recently joined the twitter revolution, Pope Benedict XVI has signed up for a Facebook account. The profile photo, taken in an Ayia Napa bar, shows him having a few drinks with his cardinals during their annual get-together.
His current status gives us a clue to his frame of mind as he states "Looking forward to Sunday...bring 'em on!".
This is the latest attempt by the Vatican to bring the Catholic Church up to date and follows the disastrous MySpace saga of 2009 when some unflattering photos of "Ponty" (believed to be taken at Priest's unofficial initiation ceremony) were uploaded causing a stir amongst the old school bible bashers.
So get your friend request in quick or you may just go to hell…
