The row between Argentina and the UK over the Falkland Islands is expected to worsen in the lead up to a general election. Gordon Brown is said to be considering "doing a Maggie" and engineering a small war against a much weaker enemy in a bid to win an election. Downing Street aide Stig O'Treacy said "The 1983 election victory for Thatcher owed much to the first Falklands conflict. We hope that we can build on this and get a working majority."
Baroness Thatcher is said to be furious that Brown is attempting such a ploy, but she rightly pointed out that he "can't sink the Belgrano again". Conservatives are going to be left in a difficult position. Oppose the war and go the way of Michael Foot, or support the war and...... go the way of Michael Foot.
Argentinia spokesman Diego Maradona said "I've got to hand it to Brown. I thought I was a devious bastard but I only tricked three officials. He's trying to fool an entire nation."
