Communication Workers' Union boss Billy Hayes has issued a challenge to all other union leaders: Come and have a go if you think you are hard enough!

In a speech delivered in front of an adoring crowd of postal workers at the Nine Elms sorting depot Hayes said "I could take that Scargill fella any day of the week. Bill Morris? Pussy! Bob Crow? Scared crow I say. I'm one mean mother fucker and I don't give a shit!"

Hayes rejected suggestions that industrial action was just going to lead to further job losses. "Er... how do you mean?" As the Royal Mail loses further business as a result of industrial action more postal workers could lose their jobs. "I don't know about that shit, but I can beat up Ron Todd."

Billy Hayes is an endangered species. There are very few genuine 1970s style militants left, either because they are dead or they have grown up,
