The Dark Lord, as he is familiarly known to many in and around the cottages of Hampstead Heath, was keen to participate in the well-known genealogy TV series "Who Do You Think You Are".
Petey-Poos, as he loves to be called, was staggered to discover a vegetable connection only a few generations back in his family history.
"I was staggered" reports the UK Business Secretary, "to find parish records in the Worcestershire village of Wyre Piddle, that linked my antecedents to the vegetable farmers of Evesham Vale".
Lord Mangelson was bemused to discover his heterosexual ancestry - "however, if you think about it", he jokes, "heterosexual ancestors are the only kind to have"!
Apparently, in the early 19th century, Lord Mangelson's forebears developed a technique whereby newly married females in the family were artifically impregnated whilst the cervix was dilated by a large vegetable.
Hence the name Mangelson, actually a corruption of Mangelsson, itself a shortened form of Mangel-Wurzels-Son.
Lord Mangelson declined to speculate on the succession to his family fortune.
