Leading UK politicians today urged the government to step in as it was revealed that the Tooth Fairy (UK Delegate) was on the verge of going bust.
The Tooth Fairy is feeling the economic pinch just like the rest of us, with turnover down by an estimated £1.4 million on last year. Tooth Fairy supporters complained that the service was an expensive venture, costing several million pounds a year to run.
Conservative Party leader David Cameron urged the government to pull its finger out, saying:
"Nobody sees the Tooth Fairy as the £25million service it is, which is tragic. People have this misguided conception that the Tooth Fairy is a tuppeny-halfpenny mom and pop industry. But it's much bigger than that. We need to act now to preserve this quintessentially British tradition."
The Tooth Fairy (UK Delegate) welcomed the support, telling us:
"If not for the fact that I have been able to exploit my expense account in a blatantly abusive manner which borders on outright criminality, I'd have gone under months ago."
More as we get it.
