For the first time in its illustrious history, the RAF's Red Arrows Diamond Nine display team have admitted a female pilot into their ranks.
Flight Lieutenant Kristy Moore will join the team in September, having been the only female pilot to have completed the requisite 1500 hours flying time, a frontline tour of duty, and pin up status amongst the nation's feminists.
Wing Commander Jason Biggles, Red Arrows Team Leader told us:
"We have every confidence in Flight Lieutenant Moore's ability and welcome her on the team. Of course, she will initially fly at the rear of the formation, should she suddenly brake to send a text message or fix her makeup. And there are one or two allowances we've made, such as having a child seat fitted, a 'baby on board' sticker on the rear of the aircraft and a sat-nav installed. We also had to go to great lengths to assure her that when she landed the aircraft, her parking space would not be nicked by a fat arsed bloke in a white van."
More as we get it.
