The television presenter Firm Britone today announced that her decision to quit 'This Morning' was not just about money. Some have claimed that the discrepancy between her wages and those of her co-host, Pip Shitfield, led to her resignation.
It is thought that Shitfield was earning £2 million per year, plus having access to ITV's own harem. Britone was thought to be earning £3 per show and was still having to travel by bus. She refuted these allegations. "I am not quitting over money. I have had 10 great years. Sadly these last 10 have not been as good. But I have a great deal of respect for Pip. He is such a professional. I have rarely come accross such a professional little shit as him."
Pip Shitfield responded with this tribute. "When they told me you were leaving I wept. Nobody could have been better at this job. And I frequently said that they should have replaced you with nobody. At least here would be more room on the sofa."
ITV have not announced a replacement as yet. The bookies have issued the following odds:
3/1 Christopher Biggins (he has always wanted to sit next to Pip)
8/1 Rizz Lateef (crazy name, crazy gal)
15/1 Cherie Blair (the pay would have to be increased)
50/1 Jade Goody (obviously now she is dead her chances have improved)
The viewers were said to be stunned. John Cole, 78, of Nova Mews said "I'm stunned".
