Here in the UK, media watchers have been baffled by a flood of press releases relating to alleged 'teen queen' Brenda Song, and somebody called Rob Pattinson.
The Press Council of Great Britain has intervened on behalf of journalists and spoofologists requesting a banning order on Brenda Song/Rob Pattinson stories for the foreseeable future because nobody has any idea who they are.
An unnamed writer for TheSpoof.com told us:
"We could live with the Miley Cyrus stuff, and the Aspartame controversy, because the stories were essentially funny. But this Brenda Song and Rob Pattinson thing is a mystery to us, so we propose it should be banned."
Another spoof contributor explained:
"I just wish they'd give us some kind of a hint as to what it's all about. Is it something off the Disney Channel or what?"
UK spoofers are threatening to retaliate by bombarding thespoof.com with stories about Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, EastEnders, and Kylie Minogue.
"That'll fuck em up," said one spoof writer.
