The Global Financial Crisis(tm) claimed its latest high profile victim when it was announced that New Car Smell had gone into administration.
The scent had shot to fame in the late 80's when it seemed that everyone was buying new cars,and even when the scent wore off the boffins at Magic Tree were there to bring it all back home.
Recent hard times have seen a backlash against the once popular aroma,Brian Ford Cortina of Why Car? magazine believes that people dont want to be reminded of things they cant have.
"since the credit crunch took hold,people are looking for a more realistic smell for their cars,the last few months have seen a sharp increase in sales of our new brands such as 'Damp'and'Old Trainers'"
It was rumoured that the Goverment are preparing a takeover of New Car Smell,but it will be in name only as the actual scent will be "Roast Thompsons Gazelle"
