Liverpool FC Captain Steven Gerrard was reportedly arrested last night following allegations of assault in a Southport nightclub.
Rumours that he was out drinking with fellow Liverpudlian Joey Barton have yet to be confirmed.
The only information we have at the moment regarding Gerrard's arrest appear to confirm that he was taken into police custody in the early hours of this morning.
A Liverpool FC spokesperson refused to comment.
'I have nothing to say to you whatsoever,' said the spokesperson. 'Now get off the bloody phone.'
Gerrard, who scored twice in his team's 5-1 annihilation of Newcastle United at St James's Park before being substituted, is not usually renowned for excessively boisterous behaviour.
He is however, a Scouser.
Which in many people's opinions is more than enough rope.
