In a sensational interview with the News Of The World, Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has made bizarre claims of leading a double life, and blamed the X-Factor for losing his place in the starting line up.
Drogba claims that he was forced to feign injury in order to appear in the TV show under the pseudonym of Rachel Hylton. He was allegedly only allowed to resume full training when "Hylton" was eliminated from the competition. He then found Nicolas Anelka in such fine goalscoring form he could not displace him from the team, especially with Phil Scolari choosing such unsuitable boots for him.
In the interview, Drogba said "This may sound unbelievable. But take a close look at photos of Drogba and Hylton, side by side. You will then realise why we are never in the public eye at the same time. I can tell you now that I will again be "injured" in the spring when I have to go on tour"
Simon Cowell was last night unavailable for comment.
