Pope Bendedict XVI has defended his client Jesus Christ after his failure to turn up for his scheduled comeback appearance on the X-Factor final.
Reacting to comments that "Even Britney turned up for her gig" Xvi claimed that Jesus had merely got "cold feet" and promised that he would buy him some proper shoes rather than those well worn sandals for future appearances.
There is some speculation that Christ actually stayed in watching Barcelona beat Real Madrid on Sky, mesmerised by the talent of Lionel Messi-ah, but sources close to Xvi, who wish to remain anonymous, say that Christ actually cut off his beard with a pair of shears and attacked the popemobile with a stick of licquorice.
